Day 1
The Power of Gentleness
Welcome to Day 1! Today’s prompt will be an initial exploration of the theme of our challenge, which we will build on in the coming days. Grab a paper and pen and let’s get started!
First, watch the introduction video and jot down anything from it that resonates with you.
Next, take some time to ponder these questions:
What comes to mind when you think of gentleness? Does it have a negative or positive connotation?
Do you think that gentleness is resilient in the face of what opposes it? How would you describe the power that it carries?
What has your experience been with this concept? Do any memories or analogies come to mind?
Stew on all of this for a bit by turning it into a conversation with God or journaling your thoughts.
Choose one of the following verses to meditate on. Mull it over in your mind, asking the Holy Spirit to share with you His thoughts. Write down any insights that come to mind.
“Blessed are the gentle, for they will inherit the earth” Matthew 5:5
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” Proverbs 15:1
“Through the praise of children and infants, You have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger” Psalm 8:2
Creative Response:
Now that you’ve had some time to meditate and journal about this theme, try to create a visual representation of what you have gleaned throughout the prompt. This may be a picture or analogy that has come to mind, or something more abstract. You can paint, draw, make a collage, or take a photo.
This truly can be whatever you want it to be! Remember, this is more about continuing to connect with Jesus than it is about making something amazing or perfect. Just use your imagination to create something with the Holy Spirit that encapsulates and commemorates the impressions He gave you.
