About us

Wild Child Collective started as an experiment—

a small group of friends that met weekly to explore creative ways to connect with God and each other. We realized that our ideas about God can get locked into small compartments, so we wanted to learn from the Holy Spirit how to explore God’s beautiful depths. We found creativity to be an amazing avenue for understanding, connecting with, and being formed by God in ways that involve our whole personhood.

As the original Artist, God greatly dignifies the creative process and perhaps even provides it as a template through which to naturally know Him. Proverbs 8 offers us a poetic peak into what this was like. Jesus is there, at the beginning with the Father. Personified as Wisdom, He is the foundation through which everything is made. This was an epic scene full of delight and dance. The Father and the Son overflowed their love into creation, not wanting to contain their glory, but to birth a context in which their goodness and could continue to flourish.

In a flurry of harmonies, God sang the opening lines, creating the precedence and seedbed of all that would follow. The creative power of His word wasn’t expressed through a flat sentence, but through sound, texture, color, movement, contrast, and light.

His fingerprints are still coloring everything. In His prolificy, He does not stop creating and invites us to join Him— as His living masterpieces that bear His image. The fruit of our relationship is to spread His good kingdom with Him in multi-faceted ways. This is the invitation for His sons and daughters.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10

We love To explore and experiment with the raw materials that our Father gave us to connect with Him through. This takes the form of workshops, retreats, online gatherings, and personal prayer, where we gather together to dive deeper into His heart.

Our gatherings aim to provide a “nest" for people to quiet down and connect with God and with others through creative and out-of-the-box ways. When we work with our hands or engage our senses with beauty, God is close. As we find Him in the creative process, we begin to discover more about Him and in turn, more about ourselves— the unique masterpieces He made.

You don’t have to consider yourself an artist or even creative to be involved— in fact this is just the place for you. The arts were never supposed to be exclusive, elite, or performance based. The arts are meant to be approachable and engaged with by all who are curious. This is exactly what His gospel is like— free for everyone. To be entered into as a child.

It is only through the innocence of childlikeness that we can truly know the Kingdom. A humble, childlike heart that is ready to notice beauty, turn aside to wonder, and overflow in worship, is the heart that God comes in close to live with. It’s in the raw soil of humanity that He plants His beautiful presence and dwells with us, fitting into all areas of life.
